Fathers Project

"My name is Andy Steele and I’m the Fathers' Worker at Children and Family Action. I’m here to support members of the local community, in particular male parents/potential parents and carers, to access services which will benefit their lives."

What do I do?

Fun activities - October will see the launch of the Withernsea Dads and Kids Group, offering a range of new activities and events specifically aimed at local dads/male carers and their children. These will include:
* a Saturday Breakfast Fun Club, run in association with the Children’s Centre, which will include free food and loads of exciting activities for dads and kids of all ages.
* regular sports skills sessions aimed at pre-school and primary school children and their dads/carers.
* the Garden Gang - we will be running a day trip to a community garden in Hull,
before setting up a community garden of our own here in Withernsea which will be based on the designs of the children themselves.
* Other events and activities coming up soon - contact me to find out more!
Offer help and advice to dads/male carers looking for employment or training opportunities, assistance with
benefit claims, housing applications etc.

Support dads in dealing with relationship and child access issues.

Basic Skills English - I teach a course which allows learners to gain a qualification equivalent to an English
GCSE and is ideal for anyone looking to boost their appeal to employers. The class runs fortnightly on
Tuesdays from the Shores Centre on Seaside Road and we would welcome new learners of all ages and
abilities.
Parenting support -  I am trained in the Family Links Nurturing, Triple P (Positive Parenting) and Getting to
Grips Adolescent parenting programmes and can offer a range of support to parents/carers, from fun ideas
to entertain the kids to long-term strategies to help parents of children displaying challenging behaviour.
